I'm not dead and the game is not dead. Update Info.

Hi!

First, I'm very sorry for the lack of updates. As the title says, the game is not dead. I'd like to explain a bit my absence and then the current state of the game and what to expect. (Long post warning >.>)

I don't want to get too much into it because I don't want you to think that I'm using the "pity card", but I had personal problems that made impossible working on this, or pretty much anything at all, until around August. At that point, after really considering my options, I decided I'm going to do everything I can to make 3dx content creation for a living. As a consumer of adult games and media myself, I know you can't just do that and hope people give you money "just because", so I thought the best thing I could do was to actually make content to let people know what I can do. But the game takes time so I put more priority on making just renders and comics which I can release faster. I know most people will think I'm crazy taking such a risk and maybe even considering it a childish decision, but believe me when I say, in my current situation it's actually one of my best options. I did work on the game though.

About the game:

As I said, I did work on the game, and doing so I learned two things about trying to make a fully animated game in RPG Maker. First, it's getting too big. At a point where I wasn't even finished with half the animations I had planned for one character the game was already at +200mb. And I haven't even included voice yet. I already have a failed attempt at making animations in RPG Maker where I tried to make huge animations and made the game way too heavy, so this time I was really trying to keep them very simple and even doing that, just making all the content I had planned for one character was probably going to go over the 1GB mark. Second, even if the animations are short, trying to make a seamless, fully animated game it's definitely not RPG Maker's strong point. At least not without heavy scripting and I honestly feel like if I'm going to dedicate myself that much to a game making engine, it's not going to be RPG Maker.

And that's not even taking in account the idea of the game was to be a simple game, but as a friend tends to remind me, I have a tendency to get excited and complicate things way more than I should. Considering that, so far I have cut content, I'm making the battle system more simple and it's just going to be one girl. My reasons for doing so are:

  • I've gotten better at making content and Daz Studio has now better tools for animation. So, unless I start the game from scratch I think it's better to wrap it up and start a new one.
  • I've been learning Pixel Game Maker which is way more animation friendly. If I had to say, I think it's a great middle point between Game Maker and RPG Maker. So, again, unless I start from scratch with this game in Pixel Game Maker I think it's better to finish this one in RPG Maker and make future animation heavy games there

Honestly, I'd rather have more feedback from players because I think maybe I'm putting too much weight on stuff that maybe most of you just don't care about. So, my plan is to get the current version of my game to a more stable state and update the demo here and share it on other sites to get feedback and then work out with you, the players, how to proceed. I have to finish some renders and after that I'll work on updating the demo, so it should be during this month, most likely at the end.

Another thing I wanted to comment about is that I have gotten some sales for the demo. The final game is not going to be free but I realize how it was my mistake. I'm very sorry about that, it's my first time using Itch and I could swear I wrote it was the demo. But don't worry, I'll fix that and once the final game gets released, I will send a code to those who bought the old demo.

To finish this post I'd like to share my  twitter where you can see what I've been up to during the past months and also say that even though I do like tentacles, most of my content leans towards futanari, so expect future games being more futanari oriented (though this game does have one futanari in it)
